LUISA TETRAZZINI This sepia-toned 4x6 photograph is signed by the Florence opera singer in ink Photograph signed: "Luisa Tetrazzini/London 1922." Light sepia, 4x6. Mounted to a card of same size. Italian opera star Luisa Tetrazzini (1871-1940) made her debut in Florence in 1890, debuted in the U.S. in 1904 and at Covent Garden in 1907. She had a highly polished mastery of her art as a coloratura soprano, with a sensational command of the most difficult and florid music. She was also witty and good-natured, with a flair for fun that made her splendid in comedic roles. Tetrazzini, who sang notably in Rigoletto and La Traviata, was the inspiration for Chicken Tetrazzini, created by Chef George Auguste Escoffier of The Savoy in London. Minor surface creases and light stains (barely visible). Mounting remnants on verso (no show through). Otherwise, fine condition.
