LYDIA LAURANS
The actress sends requested materials to John Willis, Editor of
Theatre World
Autograph letter signed: "Lydia/Laurans", in black ink, 1
page, 5½x9. May 15, 1984. In full: "Dear Mr. Willis - Hello! Thanks
for inviting me to be in Theatre World - I'm thrilled. Pal Joey is
NY debut - Hope you enjoyed. Here's my 8x10 & resume [items not
included]. Again, thank you!". Pal Joey would be actress
Lydia Laurans' only major stage production, instead turning to film and
television years later with So Fine (1981), Izzy and Moe
(1985), and The Days and Nights of Molly Dodd (1991). John A.
Willis (1916-2010), active in Theatre World from the beginning, became its
chief editor in 1965, holding that position until 2008. Willis is regarded as
one of the foremost theatre and film historians of the 20th century. While
producing (and presenting) the annual Theatre World Awards, Willis also served
on the nominating committee for the Tony Awards. Theatre World, which received
its own Tony for Excellence in Theatre in 2001, continues under chief editor Ben
Hodges. Corners slightly worn and creased. Light surface creases. Fine
condition.
