LYNDA JOHNSON ROBB. ALS: "Love/Lynda". 2p, 5x3¾, front and verso. No place, no year, but circa late 1968. On her embossed "Mrs. Charles A. Robb" note card to "Dear Mr and Mrs Raiford". In full: "Thank you so much for Lucinda's mobile. Right now she can't see very well but I know it will give her many hours of pleasure in the future. I know she is going to be very interested in 'kinetic' or moving art like her mother. I hope we can get together soon and play some bridge." Lynda Bird Johnson (born in 1946), the daughter of President Lyndon B. Johnson, had married Charles S. Robb, then Lieutenant Governor of Virginia, in the White House on December 9, 1967. Lucinda, the first of their three daughters, was born on October 25, 1968. Mrs. Robb, who had been a writer for "McCall's" magazine from 1966-1968, was a contributing editor to "Ladies' Home Journal" from 1969-1981, when she stepped down to work on her husband's successful campaign for Governor of Virginia (1982-1986). Her husband served as U.S. Senator from the state from 1989-2001 and was named earlier this year by President G.W. Bush as co-chairperson of an independent commission "to look at American intelligence capabilities, especially our intelligence about weapons of mass destruction". Fine condition.
