Signatures: "Lynne Roberts", "Heather Angel", 4¼x4. American actress LYNNE ROBERTS (1919-1978) starred in many Westerns for Republic Pictures, including roles with the Three Mesquiteers (starting with Heart of the Rockies, 1937) and then with Roy Rogers (beginning with Billy the Kid Returns, 1938). From 1939 to 1942, Republic billed her as Mary Hart, but she returned to her real name when she moved on to Twentieth Century-Fox. She retired from film after a strong second lead in Port Sinister (1953). British actress HEATHER ANGEL (1909-1986) was on stage with the Old Vic at age 17. Her starring film roles included Berkeley Square (1933), The Informer (1935), The Last Of the Mohicans (1936) and five Bulldog Drummond films in the 1930s. Later, she played mostly supporting roles and provided voices for several Disney movies of the early 1950s, including Peter Pan. On TV, she appeared frequently on Family Affair (1966), and came out of retirement for a role in the TV miniseries Backstairs at the White House (1979). Soiled and creased. The Hollywood Canteen (1942-1945), staffed on a volunteer basis by professional entertainers, provided food, dancing and entertainment free of charge to uniformed military personnel during World War II. A table of soldiers and sailors might be served by a film star. Perhaps Lynne Roberts and Heather Angel were volunteering at the Canteen when they signed this sheet. Otherwise, fine condition.
