Typed letter signed: "Mitch", in black ink, 1 page 7¼x10½. Los Angeles, California, September 14, 1973. On his Executive letterhead at Frankovich Productions, to "Dear Rosalind" Rosalind Wyman, The Friars Club of California, in full: "I want to express my personal gratitude to your efforts on behalf of the Frairs Club Charity Foundation. For your information, I have already madea &750 contribution for the purchase of 6 tickets and look forward to seeing you on October 13th. Kindest regards and do come and visit me at my new offices." Producer M.J. Frankovich (born Mitchell John Frankovich, 1909-1992) started out his career acting in sports films and as radio commentator in the early 1930s. In 1938 he became a producer, famous for the films The Shootist (1976), Cactus Flower (1969), Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice (1969) and Butterflies Are Free (1972). He was awarded the Golden Laurel Award for Best Producer in 1971, and in 1984 he was honored the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award from the Academy Awards. A UCLA quarterback in his youth, he served as president of the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum Commission, bringing the Los Angeles Raiders and 1984 Summer Olympics to the city. He was married to actress Binnie Barnes. Normal mailing folds. Lightly creased. Pencil notes at top margin. Fine condition.
