MACDONALD CAREY
Signed photo of a poster for the film Streets of Laredo
Photograph inscribed and signed: "To Allan/Best Wishes/Macdonald Carey/'Texas Rangers"". B/w, 8x10. Photo of a promotional poster for the film Streets of Laredo (1949). The film was originally titled Texas Rangers, perhaps changed in response to the popularity of the theme song "Streets of Laredo." Richard Benjamin (b. 1938) began his career on the stage, directing the London production of Barefoot in the Park (1965) and the following year, made his Broadway acting debut in The Star Spangled Girl for which he won a Theatre World Award for his performance. In 1967, he appeared with his wife, Paula Prentiss, in the TV situation comedy He and She. Benjamin made his first screen appearance in Goodbye Columbus and later appeared in such films as Catch-22 (1969), Portnoy's Complaint (1972), Westworld (1973), The Sunshine Boys (1976) and Love at First Bite (1980). He made his directorial bow with My Favorite Year (1982), and continues to favor directing over acting. Edges lightly toned. Corners lightly creased. "To" light but legible. Otherwise, fine condition.
