MACDONALD CAREY
Black and white publicity photo of the esteemed actor, signed and inscribed in purple ink.
Inscribed photograph signed: "To Charles/Best Wishes/Macdonald Carey". B/w, 7¼x9. Stage, screen and radio and television actor Macdonald Carey (1913-1994) made his film debut in 1942, and gave one of his most memorable performances a year later in Alfred Hitchcock's Shadow of a Doubt (1943). His other feature films include Wake Island (1942), Streets of Laredo (1949), The Great Gatsby (1949), John Paul Jones (1959), Tammy and the Doctor (1963) and American Gigolo (1979). Carey, who made his television debut in 1950, appeared in a number of early anthologies, starred in several TV series, miniseries (including 1977's Roots) and made-for-TV movies and made guest appearances on shows through 1987 (Murder, She Wrote). His best known television role, however, was as Dr. Tom Horton, chief of internal medicine at University Hospital, on the long-running NBC daytime soap, Days of Our Lives (from 1965 until his death!). Orange pencil note (unknown hand) on bottom left edge. Several ink notes (unknown hand) on verso. Corners lightly creased. Otherwise, fine condition.
