MACDONALD CAREY
B/w publicity photo of a Carey - suit and tie, leaning forward with
faint smile!
Photograph inscribed and signed: "To Dan/Macdonald/Carey".
B/w, 8x10. Stage, screen and radio and television actor Macdonald Carey
(1913-1994) made his film debut in 1942, and gave one of his most memorable
performances a year later in Alfred Hitchcock's Shadow of a Doubt
(1943). His other feature films include Wake Island (1942), Streets of
Laredo (1949), The Great Gatsby (1949), John Paul Jones
(1959), Tammy and the Doctor (1963) and American Gigolo (1979).
Carey, who made his television debut in 1950, appeared in a number of early
anthologies, starred in several TV series, miniseries (including 1977's
Roots) and made-for-TV movies and made guest appearances on shows through
1987 (Murder, She Wrote). His best known television role, however, was
as Dr. Tom Horton, chief of internal medicine at University Hospital, on the
long-running NBC daytime soap, Days of Our Lives (1965 until his
death). Carey's voice can still be heard on the soap's intro. Minor flaws
in negative/printing a lower left section. Fine condition.
