Madeleine May Kunin (b. 1933), a Democrat, was the 77th Governor of Vermont (1985-1991), the first female Governor of Vermont, the first woman elected to three terms as Governor in any State, and the first Jewish Governor of any State. She had previously served in the Vermont legislature, and as Lieutenant Governor (1979-1982). Declining to run for a fourth term, she served in the Clinton administration as Deputy Secretary of Education. In 1996 she returned to her birthplace, Switzerland, as US Ambassador. She has written three books, including a memoir. Fine condition.
