Playbill signed: "Madeleine Renaud", 42 pages, 5x9. Playbill for the first US production of Des Journées Entières Dan Les Arbres ("Entire Days Spent Among the Trees") at the Ambassador Theatre, New York, May 1976. Signed on the title page. Renaud is pictured on the front cover, dancing with co-star Jean-Pierre Aumont. The production, billed as a French contribution to the US bicentennial sponsored by the French government and French cultural organizations. French stage and screen actress Madeleine Renaud (1900-1994) appeared in that country's films for nearly 70 years (1923-1990). She appeared in one English-language film, as Mother Superior of a convent in The Longest Day (1962). However, the Marguerite Duras play shown here, first performed in France in 1965, was released as a film with the same cast in 1976. Renaud appeared in 10 Broadway productions from 1952, all in the French language, the last being the play shown here. She was married to actor/director Jean-Louis Barrault from 1940 until 1994, the year both died. 2 pages seperated. Lightly toned. Corners slightly worn. Otherwise, fine condition.
