MADGE EVANS, HENRY WILCOXON, DOROTHY WILSON and ERNEST COSSART. Album Leaf signed: "Madge Evans" in pencil, 5¼x3¾ album leaf. Magazine photo (b/w, 2¾x2¼) affixed in lower right. Also signed on verso in pencil: "Henry Wilcoxon", "Dorothy Wilson", "Ernset Cossart". A child actress early in the silent era, stage and screen actress MADGE EVANS (1909-1981) starred in many B movies and in some time line films (Dinner at Eight, 1933; David Copperfield, 1935; Pennies from Heaven, 1936) and in five Broadway plays. She retired from films in 1939, after marrying Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright, producer and director Sidney Kingsley, continuing her stage work until 1943. HENRY WILCOXON (1905-1984), born in the West Indies, began a long collaboration with Cecil B. DeMille when he portrayed Marc Antony in Cleopatrs (1934). A generation later, he both acted in - and produced - DeMille's The Ten Commandments. Other films starring Wilcoxon included The Last of the Mohicans (1936) and A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court (1949). DOROTHY WILSON (1909-1998) was a stenographer at RKO Radio when she was discovered by a talent scout and cast in films of the 1930s, usually as a romantic interest. She made her debut as a college co-ed in The Age of Consent (1932). She starred opposite Will Rogers in In Old Kentucky (1935). After marrying Oscar-winning scriptwriter Lewis R. Foster, she retired from films. ERNEST COSSART (1876-1951) was often cast in American films in stereotypical English types, as a butler, for example. His major film roles included My American Wife (1936), Kitty Foyle (1940) and The Girl of the Limberlost (1945). Pencil numbering (unknown hand) of signatures). Lightly soiled. Photo image shows through lightly. Otherwise, fine condition.
