Inscribed printed photograph signed: "To Emil,/ Stay happy - Madge Sinclair" in blue ink. B/w, 8x10. Madge Sinclair (1938-1995) was teaching school in her native Jamaica when in 1968 she left for New York to pursue her career in acting. Sinclair became a well-known character actor, she made her debut in the television series Madigan (1972) and went on to appear on television in shows such as All in the Family (1975), Trapper John, M.D. (1980-1986) (a role she would earn three Emmy nominations for), and Ohara (1987); she furthermore received an Emmy Award nomination for her role as Belle in the miniseries Roots (1977). Her film roles include Convoy (1978) and Coming to America (1988) and she famously provided the voice of Sarabi in Disney's The Lion King (1994). Sinclair also worked with James Earl Jones on the series Gabriel's Fire (1991) which earned the actress her first Emmy in 1991 for Best Supporting Actress. The actress tragically died at the age of 57 from leukemia. Corners creased. Fine condition.
