Magda Olivero (1910-2014) was an Italian operatic soprano known for her performances in verismooperas and for her interpretations of the female leads in operas like La Bohème, La Traviata, Madame Butterfly, and Iris. She debuted in Giacomo Puccini's Gianni Schicchi in Turin, Italy, in 1933. Olivero retired in 1941 when she married, but returned 10 years later to perform in Francesco Cilèa's Adriana Lecouvreur and continued to sing professionally until 1981, when she starred in the one-woman opera La voix humaine in Verona. Olivero made her Metropolitan Opera debut in 1975 in the title role in Tosca, just a few weeks after her 65th birthday. Top left corner worn. Otherwise, fine condition.
