ANDRIAN NIKOLAYEV The Russian cosmonaut signs this 3½x2½ black and white photo Photograph signed: "Nikolayev" in Russian. B/w, 3½x2½ overall, image 2¾x2½ (one surface). Andrian Nikolayev (1929-2004), an original Russian cosmonaut, was aboard Vostok 3 (1962) and Soyuz 9 (1970). On both flights, he set records for the longest time in space, and he made the first broadcast from space (August 1962). In 1969, he survived an assassination attempt on Soviet President Leonid Brezhnev. He also married the first woman in space, Valentina Tereshkova, although the couple divorced in 1980. Pencil notes in an unknown hand on verso (no show-through). Otherwise, fine condition.
