Walthall (1831-1898) left his post of district attorney to fight for the
Confederacy during the Civil War, rising to the rank of Major General. He
represented Mississippi in the U.S. Senate (1885-1898), chairing the
Committee on Military Affairs in the 53rd Congress. Irregularly cut at lower
edge. Light edge toning. Pinhead-sized spots in blank upper left. Otherwise,
fine condition.
