ALS: "Geo. Cadwalader" as Major General, 1p, 5x8. Head Quarters, Philadelphia, Pa., 1863 December 5. To Horace G. Babcock, Esq. In full: "Your letter was forwarded to me from the War Department and request complied with." George Cadwalader (1806-1879) served as Major General of Pennsylvania troops, serving in the Shenandoah Valley. In April 1862, he was promoted to Major General of Volunteers. 1/8-inch square tape remnant at lower left blank margin. Fine condition.
