JOHN A. LOGAN. Signature: "John A. Logan/Ills", 3½x2 card. During the Civil War, General Logan fought with the Union Army of Tennessee, despite occasional charges that he was a Southern sympathizer. After the war, he initiated the first Decoration Day, May 30, 1868 (now Memorial Day). Logan served Illinois as a U.S. Representative and Senator and ran an unsuccessful campaign for Vice President with James G. Blaine in 1884. Gilt edges. Mounting remnants on verso (no show through). Lightly soiled.
