The Cuban Major General and the Chief of Department of the Fifth
Forces of the Nation Liberation Army inform Commander Jose Y. Lamas that his
application to become Lieutenant Colonel has been submitted.

On this date this General Barracks has decided to elevate to superiority your
proposal for a raise to the military position of Lieutenant Colonel, with the
seniority of August 24, 1898. Fatherland and Liberty, Major General: J.M.
Rodriguez. The Chief of Department. Rasseuz."
Rasseuz, signer merits for the research. Jose Modesto Rodrigues was a
Major General in Cuba's War of Independence (1895-1898); Guayabal was one of
the small towns in the province of Havana that had been captured by Cuban forces
on January 1, 1896. Many of the small towns in the region had sided with
Spain; with some even providing Cuban guerrilla forces to resist the
revolutionaries. Edges frayed. Ink note (unknown hand). Sealed. Pinhead-size
moth marks at left blank margin. Soiled and toned. Otherwise, fine
condition.
