Check signed: "Maxwell Murray," 7½x3. Washington, D.C., 1907 September 2. Check #2, drawn on the Riggs National Bank, payable to the Dreka Company for $3.00. Entirely filled out by Murray. Maxwell Murray (1885-1948) was a United States Army office who earned the rank of Major General as a commander of the 25th Infantry Division during World War II's attack on Pearl Harbor, and later of the 35th Infantry in the Southwest Pacific. A colonel in World War I, Murray fought in the Battle of Cantigny, Battle of Soissons and Second Battle of the Marne. Throughout his 31 years of service, Murray earned the Distinguished Service Medal, Silver Star, and 3 Legions of Merit. Perforation marks. Slight tear in center. Otherwise, fine condition.
