Autograph Letter Signed: "N.P. Banks", 1p, 5x8. House of Representatives, 1867 March 22. To Governor Ramsay (sic), U.S. Senate. In full: "Permit me to introduce to you a constituent of mine Mr. W.M. Hall an enterprising manufacturer whom I commend to your favor." ALEXANDER RAMSEY, Governor of Minnesota (1860-1863), represented his state in the Senate from 1863-1875. In the Spring and early Summer of 1863, the Army of the Gulf, Major General Nathaniel P. Banks commanding, conducted the siege and capture of Port Hudson, Louisiana. BANKS, Speaker of the House (1856-1857), returned to Congress after the War (1865-1873, 1875-1879, 1889-1891). Lightly creased. Folds, vertical fold touches the "P". Lightly toned. Multiple mailing folds. Otherwise, fine condition.
