A letter from the Union Army general to a group of men regarding a business transaction
Autograph Letter Signed: “Robert B. Potter” dated November 5, 1868. Printed letterhead:
“Atlantic & Great Western Railway/Receiver's Office/Meadville Pa.” Letter In Part: “The
enclosed notice was/handed to me today at this place/ as it is not signed and was served with/out
the jurisdiction of the Board”. Robert Brown Potter (1829-1887) was a Union Army general
serving under Brigadier General Ambrose Burnside. After Potter was promoted to Brigadier
General himself, he participated in the Siege of Vicksburg and executed the Knoxville
Campaign. On the same day he was married in 1865, he was promoted to Major
