Contract signed: "Lanny Ross", in black ink, 8½x13. October 10, 1949. License to William Esty Company, Inc. for them to use his name, portrait, picture, likeness, performance and voice for testimonial, endorsement or statements and speaking parts of any kind in promotion of CAMEL cigarettes for the sum of $1,000 to be paid immediately upon completion of photography. Lanny Ross (1906-1988) began his career in the 1930s as a radio crooner, best known for singing "Moonlight and Roses". Over the next two decades, he would host the NBC radio show, Show Boat, appear on radio and TV versions of Your Hit Parade and host his own TV series, The Swift Show (1948). Ross also appeared in several feature films, including Yours Sincerely (1933), Melody in Spring (1934), College Rhythm (1934), The Lady Objects (1938), Gulliver's Travels (1939; animated, as the voice of Prince David), Stage Door Canteen (1943) and Banjo (1947). He later hosted an episode of The Bell Telephone Hour in 1962. Normal mailing folds. Light surface creases. Lightly toned. Corners lightly worn. Ink stain on bottom margin. Ink notes (unknown hand).
