MALCOLM FORBES
Millionaire publisher who knew how to have fun with his wealth.
Photo signed: "Malcolm Forbes". Color, 8x10 overall, image 7½x8¼ (one surface). In 1957, Malcolm Forbes (1919-1990) inherited the business magazine founded 40 years earlier by his father, increasing its circulation to 735,000 while he was Editor-in-Chief and Publisher. Forbes, who introduced "The Rich List", an annual ranking of America's wealthiest people, was himself worth $400 million at the time of his death. Forbes ventured into politics in 1957 with an unsuccessful run for Governor of New Jersey on an anti-tax platform. He was known for his hobbies, from hot-air ballooning to Tournament Bridge, and for his lavish celebrity parties. Faint ink smudge to right of signature. Otherwise, fine condition.
