MALCOM FORBES
Shown from the waist up in a blue suit and red tie leaning on a chair and looking at the camera
Photograph signed: "Malcolm Forbes", Color 8x10. In 1957, Malcolm Forbes (1919-1990) inherited the business magazine founded 40 years earlier by his father, increasing its circulation to 735,000 while he was Editor-in-Chief and Publisher. Forbes, who introduced "The Rich List", an annual ranking of America's wealthiest people, was himself worth $400 million at the time of his death. In November 1973, only sixteen months after his first balloon flight, Forbes made the first transcontinental flight in a hot-air balloon. Forbes, who had run for Governor of New Jersey in 1957 on an anti-tax platform, was also known for his lavish celebrity parties. Fine condition.
