MALCOLM MCDOWELL
Laserdisc cover for Caligula signed by McDowell, who played the title role in this notorious epic
Laserdisc cover signed "Malcolm McDowell" in red ink. Color, 12¼x12¼. Two disc set, not included. ©1979 Penthouse Financial Services, package design ©1988 Image Entertainment. Malcolm McDowell starred in the title role of the infamous Caligula (1979), an overblown mix of hardcore sex, bloody violence and grotesquerie set during the reign of the Roman emperor. The Gore Vidal screenplay was historically accurate, but Caligula proved to be too much for many viewers. McDowell, born Malcolm John Taylor in Leeds, Yorkshire, England, is an English actor with over 160 TV shows and movies as of this biography, but he's probably best known for his role as sociopath-turned-guinea-pig Alex in A Clockwork Orange (1971). McDowell has a tendency to play charismatic - even charming - evil characters, including the title role in Caligula (1979) and, more recently, occultist Vater Orlaag in Metalocalypse, as well as playing the heavy in a number of B-movies. Some of his less diabolical characters include Nick Travis in If... (1968) and H. G. Wells in Time After Time (1979). He's also lent his voice to a number of TV cartoons in recent years. Star Trek fans know McDowell as mad Dr. Tolian Soran, who killed Captain James T. Kirk in Star Trek: Generations (1994). Lightly scuffed and creased. Light impressions on cover from disc. Other light impressions and scratches on cover (not visible head-on). Rounded edges. Otherwise in fine condition.
