MALCOLM X He sends greetings from the Muslims of Temple #10 on this postcard Autograph Note Signed: "Bro Malcolm X" on verso of 5½x3½ postcard. Jersey City, New Jersey, June 4, 1955. In full: "As Salaam Alaikum:/Greetings from the/Muslims of Temple/#10 Atlantic City." Addressed by Malcolm X to: "Mr & Mrs Roy Manford (& Family)/338 Forest Street/Jersey City, N.J.". Malcolm X, born Malcolm Little, discovered the teachings of Elijah Muhammad while in prison. Upon his release in 1952, he traveled to Temple #10 in Chicago to hear Muhammad speak. Little changed his last name to "X", representing his unknown African ancestor's name, and became an organizer in the movement, establishing Temple Number 11 in Boston in 1954, the year before he wrote this letter. In 1963, Malcolm X became the first national minister of the Black Muslims, but broke with Elijah Muhammad and the group in 1964 to form his own religious group, Muslim Mosque, Inc. He was assassinated by rival sect members on February 21, 1965 in Harlem. Lightly soiled. Fine condition. Framed in the Gallery of History style: 33½x22½. Accompanied by PSA/DNA LOA.
