Extremely rare signature of the English child actress of the
1950s
Signature: "Mandy/Miller", 4x4. English child actress
Mandy Miller, born Carmen Isabella Miller in 1944, made her screen
debut as a sad child aiding the escape of Alec Guinness in The Man in the
White Suit (1951). Although she could play comedy, as in Raising a
Riot (1955), she excelled in dramatic roles. She played a deaf child in
Mandy (1952), and a girl coping with her parents' divorce in
Background (1953). She had a hit record, the children's song
"Nellie the Elephant", well remembered in England and covered in recent years by
several pop and rock groups. At age 18, she left acting for good,
moving to New York as an au pair, and later marrying an architect. Light
adhesive residue on verso. Fine condition.
