image, shown wearing her Tampa Bay Lightning uniform.
Newspaper photograph signed: "Manon/Rheaume/#33", in blue ink,
Color 3½x4 photograph affixed to a 4x4¼ card (2 surfaces). Manon Rheaume (b.
1972) is a female ice hockey player, and is famous for being the first
and only woman to ever play in the NHL. Rheaume began playing hockey in the
League Régionale du Hockey au Féminin, a woman's hockey league in Quebec. She
was later signed into the Quebec Major Junior League Hockey, becoming the
first woman ever to play in a men's Junior A hockey game. She tried out
for the Tampa Bay Lightning of the NHL in 1992, being signed on as a free
agent. She would only play in a few exhibition games, but it
was a monumental event, and has not since been matched. Since then, she has
played for several other hockey leagues and teams, but would retire for a short
time in 1997. She has also played for several championship and Olympic
teams, winning silver for Women's Ice Hockey in the 1998 Winter Oylmpics.
She is the sister to NHL's Pascal Rheaume. Corners slightly worn. Fine
condition.
