Signed note of the ballet dancer, known for Seven Brides for Seven
Brothers. Extremely rare!
Autograph Note signed: "To Jim/Sincerely/Marc Platt", 5x3 card. Typed
caption at top edge. Dancer and choreographer Marc Platt (1913-2014) was one
of the original members of the Ballet Russe of Monte Carlo (1938). While
there he choreographed Ghost Town, to music by Richard Rodgers. Platt was
Dream Curly in the original Broadway run of Oklahoma (1943), and
had a cameo role in the 1955 film. He appeared as a dancer in several films, and
was one of the brothers in Seven Brides for Seven Brothers (1954).
After he stopped dancing himself, Platt was director of the Radio City Music
Hall Ballet, and became a well-known teacher. In 2000, he received the
Nijinsky Award at the Ballet Russe reunion. Toned around edges. Multiple
unknown stains near left edge. Ink note (unknown hand) on verso. Minor smudge at
"To". Otherwise, fine condition.
