1899" in faded black ink. 6¾x4, affixed to 8¾x5¼ piece of paper. Captioned:
"Marcia Van Dresser/ Mezzo Soprano with the "Bostonians"." Marcia Van Dresser
(1877-1937) was an operatic soprano, recitalist and actress, often referred
to as a mezzo-soprano. After training for with coaches such as Hermine Bosetti
and Jean de Reszke, Van Dresser made her debut on Broadway in The
Serenade (1897) and went on to appear in productions of Francesca
di Rimini (1902), In the Palace of the King (1900) and
Freedom (1918). She went on to appear at Aeolian Hall performing
to the music of Haydn, Debussy, and Faure. Very toned. Binding holes in left
margin. Slightly worn and soiled. Irregularly cut. Otherwise, fine
condition.
