MARGARET LINDSAY
Black and white publicity photograph of a young Lindsay, Inscribed in
person to collector Saul Goodman
Inscribed photograph signed: "To Saul/From/Margaret Lindsay".
B/w, 8x10. Collector's ink stamp on verso dates signature: March 5, 1937.
Margaret Lindsay (1910-1981) played strong supporting roles in many quality
movies (Jezebel, 1938; Scarlet Street, 1940), and lead
roles in quite a few B movies, including seven Ellery Queen films. Her
performance in The House of Seven Gables (1940) received lavish praise.
Saul Goodman (1919-2003), a New York business man by day, pursued his
love of film and theatre in the evening, making friends with many celebrities.
While other autograph seekers offered album leaves, Goodman presented stars
with snazzy photographs, a rarity then, to sign in fountain pen. Corners
worn and creased. Lightly toned around edges. Mounting residue on verso. Ink
stamp on verso. Otherwise, fine condition.
