"Frank Lawton". 6x4½ album leaf. Indian-born British actress MARGARET
LOCKWOOD (1916-1990) starred mostly in British films. Her vehicles
included The Lady Vanishes (1938), The Stars Look Down (1939),
The Wicked Lady (1945) and Cast a Dark Shadow (1955). Thereafter
she focused on stage work, returning to movies as Cinderella's stepmother in
The Slipper and the Rose (1976). EVELYN LAYE (1900-1996) was
appearing in English operettas while still in her teens. She made her Broadway
debut in Noel Coward's Bitter Sweet (1929). She co-starred with FRANK
LAWTON, her second husband, in the TV sitcom My Husband and I (1956).
Laye was awarded an OBE in 1973, and continued acting into her nineties.
Her husband, Frank Lawton (1904-1969) appeared on film - mostly British
productions - for over three decades, beginning with the title role in Young
Woodley (1930). He played Titanic survivor and White Star line co-owner
Bruce Ismay in A Night to Remember (1958). Lightly toned. Fine
condition.
