8½x11. "What Are You Doing New Year's Eve?", by Frank Loesser. This holiday
favorite, which Whiting has recorded at least three times, has been sung by such
artists as Mel Tormé, Lou Rawls, Ella Fitzgerald, Barbra Streisand and most
recently Clay Aiken. Margaret Whiting (1924-2011) sang show tunes and popular
standards, peaking in popularity as a radio star in the 1940s. She sang with
the bands of Billy Butterfield, Paul Weston and others. Among Whiting's classic
songs were "It Might As Well Be Spring", "Moonlight in Vermont" and "Far Away
Places". A radio star, she also had a TV show, Those Whiting Girls
(1955-1957). Whiting also made TV guest appearances and had a featured role on
the BBC series Jury (1983). Lightly creased corners. Fine
condition.
