Inscribed photograph signed "For Mary -/Every good wish/Marguerite Chapman". With
pencil notations on verso in unknown hand. B/w sepia-toned, 7¾x9¾ overall, 7¼x9¼ image,
one surface, printed on cardstock. Marguerite Chapman (1918-1999, born in Chatham,
New York) entered films in 1936, playing the (often) secondary star in many films of the
1940s and 1950s. Examples of her work include the serial Spycatcher (1942), Relentless
(1948) and Bloodhounds of Broadway (1952). A frequent guest on TV programs of the
1950s, she reappeared in the mid-1970s for spots on Hawaii Five-0 and Barnaby Jones.
Lightly toned and creased. Slightly worn at corners. Tackhead-size spot in background. Pencil
notes (unknown hand) on verso. Otherwise in fine condition.
