honoring Moina Belle Michael, postmarked Athens, Georgia, November 9, 1948, 3-cent
stamp affixed, FIRST DAY OF ISSUE. Cachet is captioned "Honoring Moina Belle
Michael/originator of Flanders Field Memorial Poppy." In full: "For Mr S.C. Coleman a

Pulitzer Prize and the National Book Award for Collected Poems. Her work is descriptive
and reflective, rather than lyric or dramatic, and it often gives minutely detailed descriptions of
landscapes, animals, or objects. Lightly soiled. ¼-inch tear at upper left corner. "9th" in note is
smudged. Otherwise, fine condition.
