This rare picture post card features a sepia-toned photo of Genaro
and her husband - "myself and hubby" - standing in front of a theatre
with three other people. Genaro addressed this postcard, which was postmarked in
1909, to herself in Corsicana, Texas and indicated where she and her husband
were in the photo with penciled Xs.
Picture post card addressed by Genaro to: "Mrs Marie
Genaro/Corsicanna/Texas" on message side in pencil. "Corsicana" has
been crossed out by an unknown hand, which added handwritten notes below
address. 3¼x5¼ card. PostmarkedFort Worth, Texas, Oct 28, 1909 and
Corsicana, Texas, Oct. 29, 1909. With one 1¢ green-and-white Benjamin Franklin
stamp affixed. Signed on image: "myself and hubby", with penciled
Xs indicating two people in photo.Genaro was one half of Genaro
& Theo, a pair of touring contortionists who performed around the turn of
the 20th century. Lightly toned, silvered, soiled, creased and bowed. Rounded
and worn corners. Nicked and dented edges. Otherwise, fine
condition.
