MARILYN MAXWELLThe actress and singer signed this index card with a 1x1 black and white newspaper photograph of herself affixed Autograph Note signed: "For Jim-/ Always/ Marilyn/ Maxwell", signed in blue ink, 3x5 card. 1x1 newspaper photograph affixed (two surfaces). Actress and singer Marilyn Maxwell (1921-1972), born Marvel Marilyn Maxwell, made her stage debut at age three and was singing with bands and on radio while still a teenager. In 1942, she made her film debut in Stand By for Action, and she would appear in such films as Du Barry Was a Lady (1943), The Lemon Drop Kid (1951, in which she also sang) and New York Confidential (1955). Maxwell also guest starred on a number of television anthologies, variety shows and series from 1949-1971. The beauty was well known for her appearances on Bob Hope's USO tours, usually wearing a tight sweater and singing "I Want to Love You", and she provided a foil to Hope and Red Skelton on their television shows. Maxwell, who was also popular in nightclubs, especially in New York, was married to actor John Conte from 1944-1946 and to screenwriter Jerry Davis from 1954-1960.
