MARILYN MAXWELLA sepia-toned vintage photograph of the actress signed by her Vintage Photograph inscribed and signed: "For Bill -/ Let's watch our eyes -/ can't lose a good man/ like you!/ Always,/ Marilyn/ Maxwell". B/w with sepia hue, 8x10. Actress and singer Marilyn Maxwell (1921-1972), born Marvel Marilyn Maxwell, made her stage debut at age three and was singing with bands and on radio while still a teenager. In 1942, she made her film debut in Stand By for Action, and she would appear in such films as Du Barry Was a Lady (1943), The Lemon Drop Kid (1951, in which she also sang) and New York Confidential (1955). Maxwell also guest starred on a number of television anthologies, variety shows and series from 1949-1971. The beauty was well known for her appearances on Bob Hope's USO tours, usually wearing a tight sweater and singing "I Want to Love You", and she provided a foil to Hope and Red Skelton on their television shows. Maxwell, who was also popular in nightclubs, especially in New York, was married to actor John Conte from 1944-1946 and to screenwriter Jerry Davis from 1954-1960. Lightly creased and shaded at blank margins and corners, slightly rippled at lower portion. Minor surface creases and scratches (most not evident head on). Otherwise, fine condition.
