MARINELLA BRAGAGLIA MARAZZI
Black and white 3½x5½ picture post card of the Sicilian actress dated
1911, seven years before her death on the Mediterranean
Picture post card signed: "Marinella Bragaglia Marazzi/Londra
28-5-1911", in black ink, B/w 3½x5½. Sicilian actress Marinella Bragaglia
Marazzi (1882-1918) was a popular name in the Italian theatre world,
known for her incredible diction and perfect speaking voice. Although traces
of her works are hard to come by, she is listed in several productions of the
early 1900's, and was often a companion to actor Angelo Musco. Together, the
two formed their own theatre company in 1912, naming it the Drammatica Compagnia
Siciliana Marinella Bragaglia - Angelo Musco. However, the actress' life was
cut short while traveling by ship across the Mediterranean Sea, when a fire
broke out and consumed her and her daughter. Ink notes (unknown hand) on verso.
Corners and edges slightly worn. Light impressions on top corners. Soiled on
verso. Otherwise, fine condition.
