Photograph signed "Mario Pino" in blue ink. Black ink notations on verso in unknown hand. Color, 9¾x7¾. According to the notations on this photo, Pino is riding Hard Spun in this photo. Pino, born in Wilmington, Delaware in 1961, is an American thoroughbred jockey. He started riding at Delaware Park in his hometown in 1978 and has tended to race at tracks in the Delaware area, where he can be close to family. His first win was at Bowie Race Track in Bowie, Maryland in 1979, and he's since gone on to 6,000 wins, including seven wins in one day at Colonial Downs in New Kent, Virginia in 2002 and six wins in one day at Laurel Park Racehouse in Laurel, Maryland. He's raced the colt Hard Spun to a second-place finish at the 2007 Kentucky Derby and a third-place finish at the 2007 Preakness Stakes, as well as wins at the King's Bishop Stakes and Kentucky Cup Classic Stakes. Lightly creased. Pen skipped slightly while writing signature, which is legible. Light dent at top edge. Otherwise in fine condition.
