General (1927). Marion Mack (1901-1989), born Joey Marion McCreery,
began her career in show business as a Mack Sennet Bathing Girl before
progressing to roles in two-reelers and serials. Also a talented
screenwriter, she wrote and starred in Mary of the Movies in 1923.
The following year, Mack married producer Lewis Lewyn, her husband until
his death in 1969. Mack played heroine Annabelle Lee in Keaton's classic
Civil War comedy-drama. In the 1970s and 1980s, after there was revived interest
in The General, she toured and lectured about her 6 months working on the
film and with Buster Keaton. The American Film Insitute ranks The
General #18 on its list of the 100 greatest movies. Orson Welles
introduced a TV showing of the film by calling it "a hundred times better than
Gone With the Wind. Top edge and top corners creased. Corners lightly
worn. Otherwise, fine condition.
