MARION MORGAN
Extremely rare signed note from Morgan to radio host George Sanders, thanking him for allowing her on his show and calling herself his "Neighbor Detroiter"
Autograph note signed: "To George/Many thanks for having/Me on your Show/From your Neighbor Detroiter/Always/Marion Morgan:, in blue ink, 7¾x10. These signatures merit further research: "Marsha Willis", "Charles Gentry". Unsigned magazine clipping of Morgan affixed to bottom right. Vocalist Marion Morgan (b. 1923) performed with Harry James' dance band in the 1940's before embarking on a solo career in the 1950's. Initially successful with James' band, Morgan left after hearing the bandleader express his dislike for all vocalists in general. She signed as a soloist with Columbia records in 1949 and released singles like "Embraceable You" and "Maybe It's Because", the popularity of which helped give her a small-time television and acting career. Morgan could also be heard as a popular guest and co-host on several radio shows before her popularity began to fade, ultimately settling down to a family life. George R. Sanders, originally a disc jockey, became a prominent radio/TV interview host, first in Los Angeles and later in Portland. Toned, esp. heavy on bottom half and in squared sections. Left edge frayed and jagged. Light surface creases. Corners lightly worn. Ink notes (unknown hand). Stray ink mark on left margin. Otherwise, fine condition.
