MARION SHILLING
The actress is shown wearing a lace dress with her back to the camera
in this signed photograph
Inscribed photograph signed: "To Yana/A lovely lady/my good
wishes/always-/Marion Shilling" in black ink. 8x10. Marion Shilling
(1910-2004) went from stage work to her film debut, Wise Girls
(1929), and starred opposite William Powell in Shadow of the Law the
following year. She was a WAMPAS Baby Star of 1931. She made 42 films
through 1936, mostly B-Westerns and crime dramas. A good rider (unlike many
of her rival Western heroines), she co-starred with many of the Western heroes
of the day, including Buck Jones, Fred Scott and Tim McCoy. Noteworthy was her
1934 serial The Red Rider, with Scott. She retired from acting
when she married, but returned in later years on the film nostalgia circuit.
Lightly toned. Left edge has small notches. Otherwise, fine
condition.
