The renowned comedy actress signs sweet note to young child actor Billy Seay in blue ink
Autograph note signed: "To Billy:-/ A swell guy with/ a swell dog./ Sincerely,/ Majorie Beebe" in blue ink. 1 page, 6x4½. MARJORIE BEEBE (1906-1983) was hired by Universal in 1924, but it wasn't until signing with Fox that her talent for comedy was noticed and her career took off, most notably playing the title role in the popular film The Farmer's Daughter (1928). She came to the notice of "King of Comedy" Mack Sennett, with who she would appear in many comedy shorts with, such as Cowcatcher's Daughter (1931). When Sennett's career went bust in the 1930s, so did Beebe's, never regaining her former popularity. From the album collection of child actor BILLY SEAY (1922-2012), who appeared in many films throughout the decade including The Greater Glory (1926), My Man (1928), and The Marriage Playground (1929). Seay would leave Hollywood in the early 1930s to become a noted artist and illustrator. Toned and soiled. Creased throughout. Binding holes in left margin. Small stains throughout. Otherwise, fine condition.
