6x4½. Author Marjorie Holmes (1910-2002) had two nationally
syndicated columns in the Washington Star (one bi-weekly and the other
monthly) from 1959 to 1975. Called "the patron saint of housewives", she
related religion and prayer to real-life challenges. Holmes wrote 32
books, panned by critics for their clumsy prose but loved by her many
readers. These books, many of which became best-sellers, included non-fiction
advice, as in I've Got to Talk to Somebody, God (1969) and fiction,
including a trilogy on the life of Jesus. (1972-1987). Ink note (unknown
hand) at bottom left corner. Tack-head size holes at left edge. Otherwise, fine
condition.
