MARJORIE RIORDAN
Vintage photograph of the 1940s actress lying across furs in lacey
lingerie. Inscribed to a fan. Extremely rare!
Inscribed photograph signed: "To my Hot Pilot Mel/Marjorie
Riordan" in black ink. Sepia, 10x7¾. Singer, dancer and actress Marjorie
Riordan (1921-1984) started off as a glam model of the 1940s before landing
her first major role in Hollywood. Appearing as Wendie Holmes in Parachute
Nurse (1942), Riordan went on to play in Pardon My Sarong (1942),
Stage Door Canteen (1943) and Mr. Skeffington (1944)
with Bette Davis. Her film career, however, was fraught with loose contracts
and shifty producing deals, and Riordan made her final appearances in The
Hoodlum (1951) and TV's Racket Squad (1951). Marrying a marine
while working as a nightclub entertainer, Riordan gave up being and actress to
pursue clinical psychology, eventually becoming a licensed therapist. Edges and
corners creased and toned. Minor surface creases throughout. Ink smudges near
signature (not affecting/obscuring). Bowed. Toned and slightly soiled. Corners
and edges creased. Small tear at right edge. Minor surface creases throughout.
Otherwise, fine condition.
