Champion boxer MARK BRELAND (b.1963), who turned pro in 1984, is the winner of 5
Golden Glove Titles and a gold medal in the 1984 Olympics. He first became the WBA
Welterweight Champion in 1987, and again in 1989. He retired with a record of 35-3-1.
Also a notable actor, Breland has appeared in several on screen works, including Miami Vice
(1987), The Lords of Discipline (1983), and He Got Game (1998). Lou Duva
(1922-2017), once a moderately successful pro boxer himself, managed a trucking firm and
worked as a bail bondsman before devoting himself to his primary passion, boxing. He
founded his own gym, Garden Gym, and began training and promoting boxers, including
eventually 19 world champions. (These included Evander Holyfield, Joey Giardello and
many others.) With other members of his family, including brother Dan and daughter in law
Kathy Duva, he created Main Event, broadcast on ESPN. Lou Duva is enshrined in the
International Boxing Hall of Fame. Minor surface creases and scratches. Fine condition.
