Raye signed this contract in 1958 to hire the William Morris Agency as her movie agent for three years in return for a 10% commission.
Carbon copy contract signed "Martha Raye" in blue ink as Actor on page 6. 6 pages, 8¼x10¾, 3 sheets, front and verso. May 21, 1958. On letterhead of William Morris Agency, Inc. Raye hires the William Morris Agency, Inc. as her "agent in theatrical motion pictures" only for a term of three years, beginning on May 21, 1958, for a commission of ten percent. Also signed by an Agent for William Morris Agency, Inc. Raye is not credited in any feature films during the term of this contract. In 1961, she appeared on an episode of The Red Skelton Show (exact date unknown); later that year, after her contract had expired, Raye was a guest on I've Got a Secret. Singer, actress and comedienne Martha Raye (1916-1994) made her Broadway debut in 1934 and appeared in her first film in 1936. She had her own TV show (1953-1954) and made many guest appearances on other TV series. A tireless performer for American troops in three wars, billing herself as "Colonel Maggie", she was honored with the Academy of Motion Pictures' Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award (1968) and the Presidential Medal of Freedom (1993). Raye was buried in the military cemetery at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Lightly creased. Lightly soiled at margins. Staple holes at upper left corners. Two binder holes at upper blank margins. Otherwise in fine condition.
