MARTHA & THE VANDELLAS
10x12½ photo signed by all three, with Martha Reeves adding their Hall of Fame date. Numbered copy of a limited set.
Photograph signed: "Love/&/God Bless/Martha Reeves/HOF 95", "Annette Helton" and "Rosalind/Holmes". B/w, 10x12½. Numbered (unknown hand) at lower right corner: 155/300. After backing Marvin Gaye on his 1962 hit "Stubborn Kind of Fellow", the Del-Phis (Detroit natives Martha Reeves, Annette Beard and Rosalind Ashford) renamed their trio, Martha & the Vandellas, taking inspiration from Detroit's Van Dyke Street and Reeves' heroine Della Reese. In 1963, they recorded the first Martha & the Vandellas' record, "I'll Have to Let Him Go". In 1989, the trio successfully sued Motown for back royalties and occasionally reunited for performances in the 1990s. Their hits include: "Come and Get These Memories" (1963), "Dancing in the Street" (1964) and "Quicksand" (1964). As Reeves noted in her signature, Martha & the Vandellas were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1995. Fine condition.
