(1810-1889, born in Albury, Surrey, England) was an English writer,
playwright, poet and inventor. He's probably best known for Proverbial
Philosophy, published in 1837. Filled with long moralizing proverbs
written in blank verse, Proverbial Philosophy eventually went through 40
editions and sold over a million copies in America between 1837 and 1867.
Lightly toned and creased. Signature was neatly torn from letter at top
edge. Adhesive residue on verso. Otherwise, fine condition.
